Dr. Meili Leung
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Meili Leung is a postdoctoral fellow practicing under a New York limited permit. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University, where she also completed her Master of Arts in Psychology.
Throughout her career, Dr. Vega has worked in private practice, outpatient behavioral health, group practice, and senior care settings. This broad experience has given her the opportunity to work with people at many different stages of life and to help clients navigate everything from everyday stressors and relationship difficulties to significant loss, illness, and major life changes.
Dr. Leung’s therapeutic approach can be best described as warm, collaborative, and evidence-based. Dr. Leung believes therapy should be tailored to the individual rather than based on a one-size-fits-all approach. She works with clients to better understand the patterns, experiences, and relationships that may be contributing to current difficulties while also developing practical strategies for creating meaningful change.
Her approach integrates structured, skills-based interventions with space for deeper exploration of emotions, relationships, identity, and past experiences.
Working with Dr. Leung, clients should expect a supportive, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment where they can speak openly about what they are experiencing and work collaboratively toward their goals.
Dr. Leung helps clients identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck, develop healthier ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions, and build practical coping skills they can use outside of therapy. Depending on the needs of the client, sessions may include both active problem-solving and more exploratory work focused on understanding underlying emotional or relational concerns.
She believes that the key to a good therapist/client relationship is trust, openness, and collaboration. Dr. Leung believes clients should feel respected, understood, and comfortable being themselves in therapy. She works to create a relationship in which clients feel supported while also being encouraged to examine patterns, try new approaches, and move toward the changes that are important to them.
