Dr. Jay Hamer

Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Hamer worked in a university setting as head of campus counseling for 20-years, where he developed deep expertise in the treatment of students and young adults while also teaching psychology. For the past 5+ years he has been working as a psychologist in a private practice setting, where he has developed expertise in working with patients suffering from anxiety disorders, depression and OCD. Dr. Hamer is adept at working with couples, as well as individuals. He has developed numerous courses over the years that enable patients to work on skills to cope with issues such as anxiety and pain management.

Dr. Hamer’s therapeutic approach can be best described as integrative. He works primarily in CBT, plus a large amount of good old fashioned client-centered therapy. His goal is to build a unique client model for everyone he works with.

Working with Dr. Hamer, clients should expect to learn skills to help manage their symptoms and feel better. They will be taught exercises that they can practice in between sessions to accelerate their improvement. Clients will also gain insights into the origins of their symptoms.
